Visual Identity Schoolkerk

The Schoolkerk is a new educational concept from the Groningen Historic Churches Foundation. A place that moves people and thoughts. Where you explore together to learn about and with each other. The Schoolkerk is located in and around the church of Garmerwolde, just outside Groningen.
A church has had many different functions over the centuries; from religious place to stable. Nowadays many churches are unfortunately empty, which is why the Groningen Historic Churches Foundation is committed to the functional preservation of these monumental Groningen churches. The Garmerwolde Church now has an educational function.
Just as the function of the church adapts to the needs of society, the visual identity of the Schoolkerk adapts to the possibilities of the medium.
In the Schoolkerk, students are encouraged to learn from each other. The teacher focuses on interactive lessons where the students enter into conversation with each other. This way they learn from each other, they make new connections and they get to discover. The dynamic way of learning and making new connections can be found in the entire visual identity. You can discover all kinds of new words in the scrambled letters and the playfulness of the statements invites the students to get started.
For the Schoolkerk I developed the visual identity and applied it to, among other things, the teaching materials, website, presentations, communications, signing on location, name stickers and announcements before the opening.
