The article explains how in April 2018, the International Association of Exorcists, an organisation backed by theVatican, pledged to train thousands of priests in the rite of exorcism over a “pastoral emergency”. According to the IAE, more than 500,000 people in Italy alone claimed to be victims of demonic possession, and that the demand for trained exorcists has "risen exponentially”.
