East River Boats, New York City

Every day, there are many boats, large and small, that travel along the East River in New York City. They are majestic creations and make beautiful sounds as they cut through the water. When I think there is a boat coming, I grab my camera and make a dash outside. Much of their travels are a mystery. Where are they going? What are they carrying?
The New Age, a commercial fishing vessel.
The James William tug near the Blackwell Island (Roosevelt Island) Lighthouse. This lighthouse was built in 1872 and is located at the northern point of Roosevelt Island.
Jet ski skipping along the waters.
Boatless waters before the rain.
The boatless sky above.
The Fire Fighter fireboat, commissioned between 1938 and 2010, preceded the Fire Fighter II. The Fire Fighter is a National Historic Landmark. Check out America's Fireboat at: https://americasfireboat.org
The Fire Fighter II was commissioned on December 7, 2010 and is 140 feet in length.
The Fire Fighter II is capable of pumping up to 50,000 gallons of water per minute!
