Replicant: a grid-based, monospace font

Replicant is a grid-based, monospace font. It was inspired by the traditional OCR monospace font family and the experimentations in grid-based type design by Wim Crouwel. Designed strictly as an experiment and as my first ever typeface, I sought to complete something logical and detailed.

Replicant was originally completed for a typography conference logo project in Typography 3 at ArtCenter College of Design. The idea was to make reference to the history of typography and to point out how far it has come. The face features ink traps and old-style numerals as nods to early printing, yet with a complete ultra-digital feel as commentary on the current state of typography.
