Kindness Catalyst |

Kindness Catalyst |

“Kindness is an intangible, invisible beauty.”

In the age which interaction between people has a significant change, we believe that standing in other’s shoes and considering other’s feelings is an intangible, invisible beauty. Thus, we design the usage of series objects as catalysts to transform the intangible kindness into visible table interactions that warms up the relationship between each other.

Kindness in daily life

With observation, we found that people often deliver delicate feelings to others through tiny behaviours.
For instances, we would hold the sharp side as we giving scissors to others, we would stop the door when we see someone is rushing toward the elevator. Although these kinds of behaviours seem to be tiny and with no difficulty, these show consideration and help others in time, furthermore, deliver good feelings.

Inspired by life, we believe that "The behaviour of stand in other shoes and consider others feelings is an intangible, invisible beauty."

New perspective in product design?

As we know that these tiny and delicate behaviours would give others very different but good feelings, we try to implement this idea on product design with a new thinking aspect.

"From behaviour to object."
We design not only objects' functions but also the connotation.
We trigger people to send good intentions by their behaviours through daily objects.

What if we change a normal umbrella into double handles? Is the meaning of "umbrella" alter? Maybe the double-handle one would let us take two people in one umbrella as a normal situation and stimulates people helping each other in the raining day.
Or what if we change a single chair to an extendable chair? Is that means the seat can share? Maybe the extendable one would trigger us to share the seat with others in a place which is lack of chairs.
Thus, we want to create objects as kindness catalysts in the society which build the bridge of good feelings between each other.

"A sequence of tablewares come from the good intentions. "
- Through creating the motivation of behaviors to let people naturely show the intangible beauty.

Before- During- After the dining
With three different sets of tablewares, we create the motivations on the original dining behavior which prompting people to show their good intentions.
Let sharing and interactions during the meal become more elegant and nature.
It's not only a beauty of behavior but also a beauty of kindness in a sense.

A flower-shaped lid with carafe

Elegant / Ritual / Explicit
We let pouring water as a ritual show by placing the flower-shaped lid and shelf.
The flower-shaped glass as a lid to the carafe, which is also used in pouring and distributing water.

People take the lid from the carafe to the shelf and pour the water into glasses for others. Water flows down slowly the edge of the flower and naturely splits into four glasses. The rest of the water in the flower would be distributed evenly and finally, people can have a glass of water in kindness.

A Shared tableware with Rotatable plate

Rotation / Directivity  /Implicit
A shared, rotatable plate that makes the cutlery could be well placed on it.
The rotate function and the directivity of cutlery exeraggate the sharing movement and intention.

People can place the cutlery on the edged ring of the plate and rotate it moderately to others.
Invite others to have the meal together

Fruit plate and forks

Delivery / Coincident
The forks which is buckled up together make us to take two of them accidentally while we tend to take only one fork.
Naturely, people would deliver the rest of the fork to other by chance which also shows kindness at the same time.

People would take two forks from the bottle and naturely give other the rest of the fork before starting to eat the fruit.
We expect that through this sequence of catalysts, the good intention, kindness will express moderately in daily life. Let considerate behaviors keep happening and become a soft substance between each others.
