Curvilinear
This is a two weeks long project exploring convexity, concavity, and space, as well as gaining a material understanding of hardwood through the shaping and finishing of 2 curvilinear forms created exclusively with hand tools.
We are carving from hardwood a pair of salt and pepper shakers that individually emphasize convex and concave forms types that relate to the hand/fingers and each other. The resulting set should have a formal relationship with each other and with the hand/fingers.
Inspirations
I am interested in organic curves, formfitting contours, and physical dualities between convexity and concavity.
