GRPH 221 - PROJECT 03
PUBLICATION DESIGN
The goal of Project 03 was to design a publication continuing with the theme from the past two projects. The subject of the publication we designed was "The Future of Food." Students first had to find two essays or articles from reliable sources to include in the publication. Students also needed to collect information and design an infographic to be included in the publication. After collecting articles and other information, the design process began. Aside from laying out text, students also had to design illustrations to include in their publication. I chose to design my main illustration for the cover of my publication. I also designed smaller illustrations to include throughout the articles and to frame the text on the page.
This project challenged students to think about type as shape instead of just words on a page. It also pushed students to think of creative solutions to the problems that come with laying out text such as avoiding breaking up words and paragraphs in awkward ways.
