there's always a mess on my table. I have to fish for tools, looking for brushes, pencils and inks between my seashell collection (all picked dead and empty, only at beaches where those species are in abundance), markers and semi-sprouted forest branches. the density of objects reminds me both of a rainforest and of a museum. on the forest floor creatures crawl on top of leaves that fall on top of fungi, sitting near roots, poking through thick soft mud. I miss the jungle all the time that I'm not there. the museums, natural history museums specifically, display rich and slightly dusty collections of objects. space can be an issue, so those objects are sometimes crammed in cabinets, amusing me with the concentration of treasures.
