The browser extension “flip” translates english words into russian and highlights where they appear in the text
Problem
When reading a text in a foreign language, I come across unknown words that I translate and can turn to history to repeat them later. During the translation, the brain load increases, as a result of which the word translated a couple of paragraphs ago may completely fall out of memory. And if there are several of them, then the likelihood that I will forget the word increases in progression.
Global goal
To simplify the memorization of english words in the text
Solution
To visual display the previously translated word, reminding the meaning on hover
Each word is highlighted in its own color
To avoid color mess, the extension limits the number of words to be translated per page
The word that you are guaranteed to remember can be deleted directly from the pop-over window
The extension has its own dictionary, grouped by days of adding, the ability to delete remembered words and view the context sentence in which it was present. You can listen to the sound of a word using an unambiguously clear icon
Small settings allow you to change the keyboard shortcuts for adding words to the dictionary
The extension was successfully hosted on the Google Chrome store and, I hope, helped the hundred of users who had installed it. Unfortunately, changing Google policies forced us to make changes and search for developers who at some point simply disappeared. As a result, Google removed the extension from the store due to non-compliance with its policies.
I hope one day I will meet an excellent programmer who will allow me to take all my work and ideas for this extension, web service and mobile application (everything is very ambitious there), look at them through the prism of new technologies and launch a full-fledged project.
