The Annual Met Gala Ball is held by the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The theme for this year's gala, About Time: Fashion and Duration, is based on the works of one of my favorite writers, Virginia Woolf. I wanted to design an alternative invitation for the event, but instead of creating a paper invitation, I thought a more elaborate package fit the theme best. The use of ornate patterns, photography, and type play a huge role in balancing both the antiquity and modernity of the theme.
I decided to use a photo cube to display the event information after playing with one I got as a little girl at the Rijksmuseum in The Netherlands. I love the way the cube unfolds infinitely, as if there is no beginning or end.
