A story of one country is much more than dates, battles, kings or historical records. In order to truly understand a culture, one should experience the way ordinary people live and have lived. China has been through a turbulent century, it changed a lot, it still changes, much has been lost, and yet, a hidden place hidden beneath the Yellow Mountain survives for centuries to tell a magical tale of Ancient China. HongCun, a village built out of stone, brick and wood, surrounded by water, remains a small piece of living history. One of my favorite spots in China.
