- This poster was awarded the Best Poster Prize as voted by public (out of 35 entrants) at AMSI BioInfoSummer 2019.

Design Notes

Due to the short time between AAIC and BioInfoSummer, this poster is essentially just a remixed version of my AAIC poster but simplified significantly. I cut back a lot of the text from the AAIC poster as I realised that hardly anyone at AAIC was actually reading the text in detail - if anything, the title and figures were enough to generate valuable discussion by themselves.

The final design of this poster definitely made it stand out, and I feel extremely honoured to have received the popular vote. Reflecting though, I think that I have probably cut out too much information for this poster to tell an engaging story by itself. It worked out alright during the in-person poster session as I was there to answer questions, but my future posters will hopefully see a better balance between content and design.

I was also lucky enough to also have the opportunity to present my work in an accompanying Lightning Talk as well! This presentation gave me much more of an opportunity to explain the rationale behind our approach taken here.

Tools

One detail of the poster which I was very excited about was the custom fish QR code. Big thanks to Dan for introducing this very cool QR code generator to me.
