I really wanted to explore subtle, muted shades in this piece.  It is a combination digital and hand printed intaglio (gotta love wooden spoons!)  At the time, I had been thinking of the beautiful transitions between shades in Rothko's works as well as some of the abstract photography in Sugimoto's "Seascapes".  The end result is above.
