HOJ.

is a shell chair which is consistently made of wood to provide a natural and harmonious seating experience. It was originally designed for the design competition “Handwerk + Form”, a competition that is combining design and craftsmanship to establish the relationships between local manufacturers and designers from Austria and abroad. The project was made in collaboration with the local carpentry Tischlerei Geser.
Designed for craftmanship  - The seat and backrest are visually connected and lead to a straightforward and contemporary appearance. Transitions from bentwood to solid wood, sophisticated connections and the interplay of grain directions are intended to reveal and challenge the possibilities of craftsmanship.

The seat is made from a bentwood shell which is merged with a solid wood frame. During an experimental process, several prototypes were created to ensure the quality of the final product.
The chair is the initial element of a coherent product family that also includes a bench and is intended for various applications in living rooms, dining rooms, cafes or waiting areas..
