NYMagazine asked local product designers to dream up the composting bins of the future.
Key objective was to keep odor, bugs and rodents out of the bin. As a result the central part of my design is an airtight locked cover (inspired by diaper bins). Another issue is getting compostable garbage from the household to a collection truck. The bin can be used without a bag (it has wheels and a pull handle and it is cleanable), but for CONDOs, etc the design will allow for the use of biodegradable bags (such as PLA). The bag is wrapped over the neck in the main lid and can be tied up (closed) before opening the main lid.
