Victors and Virtues

Teammate: Lily Reed
Overview
Victors and Virtues is a turned-based strategic card game where the players try and achieve their “fullest self”. Their goal is to embody the four virtues of a successful person, Wisdom, Transcendence, Justice, and Courage, in a certain ratio, depending on their given role. The game is played like a hybrid between Spoons and Bingo, where the Role cards are passed around, and spots on the board need to be filled in correctly.
Inspiration
The inspiration for Victors and Virtues comes from the ideas of Tarot Cards and Vintage Mystic readings. We wanted our game to feel like something that would be stumbled upon in an antique store, hence the aged-brown paper cards and worn appearance.
Branding
Instruction Manual
Using our knowledge of typography learned in our studies, We were able to develop a cohesive manual explaining the rules of the game and all of its pieces. Also to stick true to the theme, we hand-binded the booklet using string.
Packaging
Our packaging is meant to replicate the idea of vintage wood elegant boxes. Our design was laser-cut and engraved to achieve a more wood-burned look.
The cases that hold the tiles and playing cards drew inspiration from vintage matchboxes. We really were interested in being able to create pieces that looked intentionally worn, so using brown paper and sanding, we achieved that effect.
