Rob Rienecker's profile

CI - Coming Together to End Childhood Poverty

Robert Rienecker spent a good portion of his youth in athletics, whether it was coaching or playing. Today, Robert Rienecker spends his time doing community service. One of the organizations that he is involved with is Compassion International.

Compassion International’s focus is primarily on resolving the issues caused by poverty among children in Africa, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Asia. Established in the 1950s, Compassion International was created to address the inhumane treatment that the world’s orphans face. Instead of simply throwing money at the problem, its founder, Rev. Everett Swanson, decided to create a partnership where volunteers would give through compassion. Compassion International blends social, economic, and spiritual care to develop and transcend poverty.

The organization’s multi-pronged goals mete out its central mission. In addition to providing youth with training and education, the organization assists mothers and caregivers with education while also making sure infants are given the sustenance of survival. Children also receive medical care, extra food, and nutritional supplements, among other tools. Finally, the organization has a child sponsor program.
