Chair and desk for third world country.

For me, this was a very exciting project. Not only because it was one of the first projects that I was able to use a CNC router, but also because of who the product was targetted for. Before going to uni, I saught out work experience in a design consultancy to enhance my experience and understanding. The brief I was given was to design a portable chair/desk for a child of a third world country in which they could easily transport to and from classes. Pictured is my outcome of the week. I like the way my concept transforms into a sack barrow, allowing the child to easily wheel their jotters, text books and stationery to and from school. A couple of stopping devices have been installed into the chair to ensure safety when in use, preventing it from collapsing or causing any risk to the user. I am keen to develop this product further in terms of material and in some aspects, functionality.
