UNTITLED
Untitled is a print that I made during my Junior year of college. I was in a printmaking class and I absolutely loved it. Throughout the semester our professor, Mary Jones, would review our sketchbooks and push our sketches and designs further. One of my weaknesses at the time was making beautiful work, not meaningful work. I had made prints that looked great, but there was no meaning behind them other than the composition.
Untitled is a piece that conveys myself during the semester of my Junior year. Symbolically, I represent the boardwalk. Every wave that is crashing on to the boardwalk is a different aspect of my life; whether it be class, leadership, friends, societal expectations, or other stresses. This can be seen through each wave having a different value technique. At this point in the semester it seemed as though all of the different aspects of my life were all crashing into me at once. This piece was one of the first meaningful pieces of art that I have made, and will always have a special place in my heart.
