College design project I did near my senior year. Had to make something that would be iconic and recognizable from a branding standpoint, but was also versatile to modify and use in a variety of situations. Inspiration for this project came from smileys from forums I used to frequent when I was younger, specifically the green dude with the big smile.
Emojis were also a big thing by this point and I wanted to mimic that but infuse it with some design sensibilities that appealed to me personally. The end result was a simplistic design that I nicknamed "buttonface" that could be easily modified to fit whatever mood.
