The goal of this project was to create an illustration of a gender neutral bathroom sign that strongly incorporates a theme. I decided to illustrate a bathroom sign for an old-school tattoo parlor. I gathered inspiration from the classic Sailor Jerry tattoos. My illustration incorporates two swallows, roses, and embossed toilet paper in place of a banner. I then placed a plunger where a knife would traditionally be seen. I experimented with the composition deeply during this process, but decided a centered composition was most effective with adhering to the old-school Sailor Jerry theme.
