Bread Babel Tower / Pan - è

What are we, if not an aggregate of particles and molecules of the most varied forms, color and cultures? What really makes us similar and what distinguishes us from other beings? What gestures, grimaces, breaths, make us particular and at the same time equal? We are a collection of chemical and mechanical features and this allows us to define ourselves as human beings.
But, what does it mean being human? It can not only be seen as a sum of every ego, a simple quantitative datum, a biological whole, an already existing reality which can be limited to taking note of it. Humanity is an infinite story; it is a Tower of Babel in continuous ascent; it is a construction through the common and united action of a multiplicity of subjects that, brick by brick, continue to erect this enormous vital furnace from which it all began. We are all bodies born from the same dough, of the same flour. Meat on meat, bone on bone, however similar, so different in every thought and habit but fundamental components of the same bread.

The project was born out of an analysis of cultural borders. In our society we are confronted with foreigners and new cultures. Hence the surfacing of new mental logics that often lead to misunderstanding, in which contact with the different is seen as a fear thus becoming a limit. The word does not necessarily promote a distinctive separation, but also an interface area where meetings, interactions and exchanges take place and often lead to a fusion of cognitive horizons and daily practices. Different traditions, beliefs, cultures and lifestyles meet and inevitably engage in a peaceful or antagonistic dialogue, which always leads to stimulating mutual knowledge and familiarity, and potentially understanding, respect and solidarity.
With our project we have therefore decided to investigate and work on this area, trying to insert a group of users within an experience, in which through interaction and performance we try to stimulate a reaction on the theme of the different and a sense of respect and tolerance. The language adopted is that of religion, a language which, often misunderstood, has led to the fragmentation of our society.
The aim of the project is to demonstrate how the various beliefs and customs, however different in their writings and gestures, all start from a common thought, of norms and teachings that in the first place seek to respond to the need to create a sense of civil solidarity, good coexistence and mutual respect within a community. Mutual knowledge will therefore be able to generate new interfaces, spaces and horizons where the greatest of the "faiths", respect, will belong to the individual.
