UBC DRINKS TAP WATER

UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA – TAP WATER CAMPAIGN
It’s time to stop the madness and take back the tap!

A lot of our international student at UBC are insecure about drinking water from the tap. Although it's safer and more natural water than the bottled water.

Tap water in Canada is more tightly regulated than bottled water. Whereas tap water is tested more than 28,000 times per year in Metro Vancouver and three times per week at the Glenmore Ellison Irrigation District (GEID) that supplies UBC Okanagan, in addition to further testing on campus at UBC Vancouver and Okanagan, bottled water plants are only inspected annually.

Also, bottled beverages often hide surprising amounts of sugar, caffeine and other additives. And while downing the occasional bottled drink might not be harmful, the cumulative impact on your health, wallet, and the environment is considerable.
