Jie Wu's profile

Implementing Mobile Charging Vehicles

The director of the Center for Networked Computing and Laura H. Carnell professor at Temple University, Dr. Jie Wu is also the director of international affairs at the school’s College of Science and Technology. In addition to his leadership role at Temple University, Dr. Jie Wu As has worked on wired and wireless networks and proposed a collaborative model of mobile charging vehicles.

During a seminar titled “Collaborative Mobile Charging: From Abstraction to Solution,” he outlined the results of recent research conducted by his team into the area of collaborative mobile charging. In the research, they propose the implementation of a network of mobile chargers working in unison to achieve a set number of objectives. Wireless charging technologies would be used to best utilize the potential of each.

The research objectives included charging networked sensors at different frequencies with the least possible number of mobile chargers and reaching the farthest sensor given several specific constraints. They also present three principles for best practices when researching mobile chargers.
