Towns of the Faroe Island

Towns of the Faroe Islands
Where time seems to stand still.

Somewhere between Norway, Scotland and Iceland in the middle of the North Atlantic, lies the small archipelagoes of the Faroe Islands.

The treeless landscape is as rough as the climate: steep coasts, deep fjords and high mountains.
The roofs of their wooden cottages have grass roofs - it insulates well and looks charming, just as if the houses had grown out of the ground. Colorful wooden huts, grass roofs, narrow winding streets all packed in a cosy ambience. Villages on the Faroe Islands all have their own special ambience.

Bøur. From here you can see as far as the bird island of Mykines, the home of the puffins. In front of it you can see the rock formations of Tindhólmur and the rock gate Drangarnir on the horizon. Narrow footpaths connect the houses and the church in the centre with a beautiful view over the sea and the tiny harbour with fishermen's huts on the coast.
