Typographic Film Poster Series
A series of action film poster redesigns, using a minimalist aesthetic. Having watched many action films throughout my life, a recurring element which occurs in all the great action films is the use of witty one-liners or cheesy quotes. I wanted to present a theme or over-riding tone using these infamous quotes/one-liners from said films, so a strong focus on written words and a typographical aesthetic was the perfect direction to take the project.
I selected the strongest or most memorable quotes from the films, taking screen captures of the characters delivering the lines to strengthen the concept. Gotham Black was selected as the typeface, largely because of the strong impact and bulky, fleshed-out characters in the type set, which would help visibility of the image. I also reworked the styles of the titles used in the original posters into new executions using Gotham instead of the original typefaces.
