'Water is an inorganic, transparent, tasteless, odourless and nearly colourless chemical substance, which is the main constituent of earth´s hydrosphere and the fluids of most living organisms.' - source: Wikipedia

Water is also an ever fascinating element to photograph.
Its movement, its lines and patterns make for a unique, vital and organic subject.
And its calm, repetitive motion a blanket to lay thoughts and reflections upon.
While the boat I was on slowly kept on gliding across the calm lake, I watched the small ripples dance away into the distance. We were surrounded by dense fog which provided a seamless transition from water to sky. Having no real horizon literally had me floating.

I picked up my camera and followed the ripples ever so slowly. I don't remember a single sound until I felt the moment was right to press the shutter and hear the accompanying click.

A moment of tranquility. A moment of absolute peace and zen like harmony.
We do like to think that we are impactful waves ourselves. But if you think about it from this planet´s perspective then we humans are nothing but the tiniest ripples in the history of our planet.

We are nothing but fleeting moments, followed by one another. Ripple by ripple. Running for a short while and then gone. Followed by the next generation, similar but unique and with different personality, yet facing the same fast ending like our very own tiny wave.
