Why is it sometimes ringing in the ears?
This "spontaneous" ringing is usually caused by the reaction of the inner ear to the movement of blood through its small blood vessels. But, most often, tinnitus is associated with an uneven flow of blood to the auditory nerve.
Sometimes ringing in the ears remains after the person’s hearing ceases to torment any powerful sound stimulus. The fact is that sound waves act on hair cells, which vibrate, generate signals of electrochemical current to the brain.
