CHIN TRIBE - Myanmar
Portrait photography
One of the characteristics of the inhabitants of the state of Chin consists of the facial tattoos worn by the women of the tribes. Although there are many myths about how this tradition began, the truth is that it is considered a symbol of beauty among locals. In 1960 the state prohibited this practice, thus generating a considerable decrease in tradition. Today the youngest woman wearing a facial tattoo is 30 years.
