Safety Tips for Climbing Hazards on Construction Sites

On a construction site, even improperly using a ladder can be a life-threatening mistake. Before using any ladder or climbing equipment, be sure to inspect it for soundness. Before climbing, use a body harness and other safety equipment, such as safety nets, whenever possible.

Choose a ladder that is taller than the height you need to reach. A ladder that’s at least three to four feet taller is ideal. Don’t overreach when working from a ladder. It’s safer to descend and move the ladder several times, even though it may take a little more time.

While climbing or descending a ladder, make sure your hands are free and your feet are unobstructed. Keep any tools you need in a belt or other secure location.
