For second year's Graded Unit I had to bring an old-fashioned logo to this century with a major facelift. Before that year (2017) I had been using Reddit for some time and always wondered why it took them so long to have a more up-to-date look, as their classic logo (as iconic as it is) felt dated. Their website was also using a contrasting palette and UI that was not the most inviting, so I presented myself with the challenge of giving the brand and the interface a cosmetic change.
For the brand, I used a geometric sans-serif to give it a modern look, and hinted the words "read it" that gave way its name.
The challenge came later since I had roughly typed HTML or CSS code in ages, and building everything from the scratch was at first arduous, but really satisfying as the front-page started to take shape.
A year later, Reddit finally gave the brand a modern look and my inner prickly designer mindset felt a sense of relief.
Reddit new logo proposal (Before their 2018 rebrand)
Mock-up to pitch the new brand. I opted for simplicity "ergo" impact and memorability
A billboard mock-up for distant viewers
The website major change consisted in a broad left and right-side column with direct functions for usability
Testing hover buttons, scrolling and other basic functionalities
