New Golf Digest-Ranked Courses in Texas
Dr. Paul W. McDonough earned his medical degree (MD) from the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Medicine. As an MD and spine surgeon, Dr. Paul W. McDonough has served the Big Country area at Orthopedic Associates of Abilene in Texas since 2001. Outside of his work as a physician, he enjoys staying active by golfing.

Two new courses were featured on Golf Digest’s latest rankings of the top golf courses in the state of Texas. The Fazio Foothills course at Omni Barton Creek Resort and Spa in Austin made its debut on the list at number 25 for the 2019-2020 golf season, one of only three public access courses on the list. As the name suggests, the course is located at a full-service resort and spa with a range of dining and wellness options, along with guest experiences such as tennis and a fitness center.

The course at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas made an even bigger splash, premiering at number six in the state. At number four, Fort Worth’s Colonial Country Club has a national ranking of number 155, suggesting Trinity Forest could be on its way to a comparable ranking. Trinity’s high reviews should come as no surprise, as accomplished designers Bil Coore and Ben Crenshaw developed Trinity Forest with the explicit intention of bringing championship-level golf back to the city.

At the top of the rankings, Dallas National fell behind Trinity’s Whispering Pines for the number one ranking in the state. Bluejack National in Montgomery ranked number three, while Preston Trail rounded out the top five.
