Domestic Decorum examines the female and the home through the lens of objectification and domesticity. I study the ways in which women occupy the domestic space and their role in the decoration of their home. The connection between the decoration of the home and of the body incorporates the ideas of how women are perceived and the set standards of perfection and beauty in our society.

In these images, the women become an object of the home environment and serve a functional as well as decorative purpose. The women appear lifeless, like an object, as if they have no control over their predicament. Their role as ornamentation allows for them to be viewed as appealing, while their functional task gives them purpose in the home. This stands as a metaphor for the role of a feminine woman in society today.

The purpose of this work is to re-examine the ideas of decoration, domesticity, and the feminine gender role. In the images, the models are passive objects, but with this series I hope to draw attention to how we precieve women and their role in society today.
