Riso Tarot Cards

These playing cards are inspired by tarot card ideology. When beginning this project I wanted to stay away from the large figures and find something that resembles the figures. Going along, a skeleton characteristic began and led to a reminder for those of us on this earth what is inevitable for us all.

For the design I began illustrating and designing a box that could play along with the back of the cards. The bright colors and Riso graph printer were used to bring a visual concept of grit and in perfection but while being alive and vibrant. This is to bring a sense of joy to remember that nothing is perfect.
This box was designed to play along with the card design. To create this I used a laser cutter to etch the designs in to the bright pink acrylic.
To go along with the cards I wanted to incorporate a bandanna that would incorporate all of the design details from the cards and merge them all together for a pattern.
