The 2012 production of the King Philip Indoor Percussion Ensemble entitled Code explores the musical and visual cues of morse code. This method of transmitting information is a multisensory experience - from the beeping sounds to the representation by dots and dashes - and was a concept that could be implemented in every aspect of the production. Varying textures of morse code letters and numbers create the setting for the show. Costume designs were inspired by military uniforms and incorporated dots and dashes into tailored details. Voice overs from a 1940s instructional video were added throughout the show for informational purposes, general effect, and comic relief. A rhythmic selection of music including Day by Jaga Jazzist, Flite by The Cinematic Orchestra, and XYG by Hiromi Uehara provide a contemporary jazz tone to the production. Read Less
