IN COLD BLOOD - BOOK COVER

The Concept

This book jacket was derived and heavily influenced by the
scene where the crime was uncovered and the victim's bodies
were first found. On arrival to the Clutter’s house, they noticed
that there was blood all over the walls and the telephone line
had been cut. Ensuring that the family couldn’t alert the outside
world, of the trouble they were in.

From using a phone dial as a main feature on the front cover, I
have allowed the title of the book to become typographically
combined within the image of the dial. The telephone and use
of a 'call card' on the back of the book hold both nostalgic and
authentic qualities of old style America, combined with the
carefully selected typeface 'American Typewriter' overall reflects
the era in which the awful event occurred in the late 1950's.
