Essays on Isolation

The Chicago Reader had a group of their writers submit personal stories on dealing with the quarantine — focusing on how they've navigated their day-to-day in the limited confines of their physical spaces. They commissioned me to develop a few spot illustrations to go along with these stories. I wanted to depict them mentally breaking free of their limited spaces.

These spots fit corresponded specifically to: Nicole Lane's story about finding some mental headspace and physical activity through a daily yoga practice; Leor Galil's account of navigating a long-awaited move amidst a pandemic; and Brianna Wellen's take on self-care in quarantine and what she's learned from fighting off feelings of isolation and hopelessness before.
