Sustainable Packaging Design and Rebranding for Seven Beans Coffee Company
Project Brief/Background:
The brief for this project was to develop a sustainable packaging for a particular product. The factors that could be included were that of Recycling, Reducing, Refusing, Reusability and the biodegradability of the materials used. The idea was to develop a deeper understanding of the medium and apply it to the packaging of our chosen product.
Project Goals:
Coffee packaging today consists of Aluminium, Polyethylene and tin which are not biodegradable. For this project, I worked on the development of Seven Beans Coffee Company’s brand identity along with their packaging for Arabica coffee beans using biodegradable materials. I have used recycled banana leaf paper for the outer packaging and cornstarch plastic (biodegradable plastic made from corn oil, orange peel and cornstarch) for the inner covering of the coffee bag. Another goal for this project was to support the Indian local artists by integrating different styles of the traditional Indian art form on the packaging. This will increase awareness and interest about the various art forms (since this coffee is exported too).
