Rhythms of Emotion
Music and dance from Latin America
The Rhythms of Emotion series is an ongoing body of work that I have been photographing since 2000.  This has included fourteen visits to Cuba and a number of trips to Buenos Aires.  The images seek to capture the pride and passion of a world where music and dance are integral to life.  They are printed as limited edition selenium-toned silver gelatin hand prints or archival giclée prints dependent on size.    A small selection of images are also now being produced as palladium platinum prints.  A platinum print is the ultimate expression of bespoke craft printing.  In the hands of a master printer it can provide a unique register of tones and effects, bringing unexpected nuances from a negative, and a quality quite different from that of a typical print.  I ahve the great pleasure to work with specialist platinum printers Paul and Max Caffell of 31 Studio.  The Caffells also work with David Bailey, the Lartigue collection and my photographic hero Sebastião Salgado.
