It was a wonderful hot spring morning in November 2019 when Willy and I decided to check out the waves of Big Bay. After our breakfast with fresh brewed coffee, some wraps and a super healthy peanut butter bomb smoothie from the mall around the corner, I wanted to test my underwater body for my camera for the first time. How? At the wonderful Cape Oasis, our apartment at Table View, I threw my camera into the pool and I hoped that it's still running. After a few seconds in the water some air bubbles slid to the surface of the water, my heartbeat speeded up. – F**K!!! – I pulled my camera out of the pool. Fortunately nothing happened. There was just a bit air between the closure and the body. Second try. – HELL YEAH! – I took my first underwater photos in Wolf's pool. After a short time waiting for the perfect wind, we tied our surfboards on the roof rack of our Chico and cruised along the Beach Boulevard to Big Bay with the sound of Axel Thesleff's Bad Karma. We had an amazing surf session with perfect conditions at the lonely Big Bay Beach. The waves were about three meters so it wasn't possible for me to swim that far into the ocean without diving fins and also I was a bit afraid of loosing my camera. On this day I learned a lot and I'm totally in love with the footage I captured at this first try. I embed the track for you below, so you can listen to it while enjoying my photos.
I shot this with my Canon 5 D IV + Canon 35mm f1.4
