Another set of challenges has come along, this time focused on creating icons for social media, characters and more.It will go on for two weeks, so every day I'll be presenting you with something new.

Day 1 - Create a fun icon using simple shapes and lines. In this case I thought it would be fun experimenting by turning myself into an icon.
Day 2 - Create a monogram using your initials. I've started with one design but I felt it wasn't enough so I came up with a total of 7 different versions.
Day 3 - Transform basic shapes into personalized design elements with Warp and Distort tools. I've used Elipse and Rectangle tools to create these cute alien characters father and son in a space scenery.
Day 4 - Illustrate a basic character and bring it to life with color! Instead of one character, I've decided to make it more complex and create 5 of them. I used quite a lot of gradients and patterns to make it as colorful as possible.
Day 5 - Create custom Art, Pattern and Scatter brushes to more efficiently create new artwork. The theme of the artwork would be art, particularly traditional painting. My custom art brush is the actual brush, the Pattern brush for the word is an orrange paint blob and the Scatter brushes are thegreen spatters of paint and the gradient paint color next to the brush.
Day 6 - Turn a photograph into a graphic vector portrait using the Pen tool. I used an old photo of mine andin addition to thePen tool, I used the Pencil tool quite a lot, especially for the coloring and shading.
Day 7 - Build a flying machine using basic shapes and 3D tools. I also used Map art to add custom shapes as decoration to the body of the machine.
Day 8 - Build a simple graphic using shapes then add texture using Effects, Patterns and Blend modes. I came up with a few different textures which I used as patterns and symbols to apply to a 2D and 3D text with the Extrude & Bevel option. I then mapped the symbols to the text to achieve these effects.
Day 9 - Create an illustrated landscape. Focus on perspective by adding depth with Freeform gradients and Recolor Artwork. Along with that I used some Blend modes and tweaked the transparency to make the sun rays go through the trees, clouds and rocks. I've made two versions - the original (on the left) and recolored landscape.
