The Different Styles of Arabic Calligraphy

The given brief required us to create an editorial using an article on typography/calligraphy from a reputable source as the subjectivity for it without shortening or altering the article in any way. We were also required to create our own grid systems and to experiment with alternative media (experimental typography for spreads based on the article) to pair with the article. The article I chose was on the various styles of Arabic calligraphy in which the four main styles are discussed.
Experimental Typography Outputs
I drew inspiration from the article and therefore did iterations of each of the four discussed styles of Arabic calligraphy. These iterations were done with black, white and grey acrylic paint on canvas and black cardboard using soft brushes. The photographic style i adopted was grayscale images being warped by taking the images with a textured, water-filled glass in front of the camera lens.
