Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) is a fun activity that is commonly done by individuals staying at resorts or beachside properties, but it has been growing in popularity in recent years and has become regarded as a relatively easy full-body workout. According to SUP World Mag, one hour on a paddleboard at a casual pace can burn as much as 430 calories, which is double the amount of a moderately paced walk. Meanwhile, paddling at a moderate pace for an hour can burn more than 700 calories.

SUP has more benefits than just cardio. Because it requires balance, it can help stimulate back and abdominal muscles to strengthen one's core. The American Council on Exercise confirmed this theory in a recent study, although it also concluded that SUP isn't sufficient to boost strength in the external obliques, unless the person on the board is paddling at a greater-than-moderate pace.
