Playwood workshop @ Ishinomaki Lab with Tanseisha

Last Christmas I received a package of scrap construction wood material from Ms. akiko ito/ Tanseisha firm and a question if I would like to collaborate with the team on design and coordination of a public workshop in Ishinomaki within Ishinomaki Laboratory.

The town of Ishinomaki at North- East Japan was damaged from the earth quake at March 11th 2011 and Ishinomaki laboratory is an initiative of design leaders and Architect Keiji Ashizawa to provide locals a space for making, repairing and using available tools and materials for their recovery.

Since January, Tanseisha team and I were in search for fun and useful workshop setup. Together with Ms. akiko ito , Mr. Osamu Matsumura, Ms. Sachiko Yuzawa and Mr. Takayuki Shibata we build the setup and arrived last week for a workshop day in Ishinomaki.

We were happy to find out sixteen people were registered to the workshop and together with participants and Ishinomaki Laboratory team we had four wonderful hours of creation.

Many thanks to Tanseisha team for giving me this opportunity, creative participants, color works firm for providing the paint, and Ms. Hiromi Furusato for the lovely photos.
