I'm still working my way to go back to take photographs. As a step forward that goal I'm looking back to some old captures.

I have a bitter relationship with religion. I have a sweet relationship with faith and spirituality but religion with its tendency for exploitation o the week or ignorant is a whole different beast.

Last year I participated in the "Semana Santa Chiquita" a version of the rituals of the Holly week designed for kids. I did it because my niece and nephew were part of it.

But, as usual, I also took some pictures exploring some of the underlying issues I have with that kind of indoctrination.

So, that's the story behind this series. All the show of the celebration is a mixture of tradition and propaganda. Of the imposition of the culture and traditions of the conquerors to the Aboriginal Nations. Of the indoctrination of young minds without any space for context, dissent of criticism.

That's why I employ the almost pictorial images, some of it even abstract. A façade of shapes and colors to mask the underlying concepts. Or simply beautiful captures of light.
