NEW SPECIES
In this series titled "New Species” Sarah portrays how our contemporary landscapes are being consumed by waste. These poisonous products of modern man’s influence have become part of our ecosystem, almost living among us as a ‘new species’.
In her artworks, Sarah uses bright colors and comical elements to trigger happy emotions. But once the viewer realizes the content displayed, a sense of confusion is provoked, pushing the viewer to process the image and contemplate.

Her oil paintings contain collages of various materials (reuse of waste), paste, oxidation solutions to create the effects of withering along with raw, messy appearing layers and dripping effects. She starts to paint in an unstudied manner thereby capturing the chaotic process of how waste and societal issues evolve.

Sarah’s drive to tackle this topic is likely fueled by her experience. Coming from Lebanon, a beautiful country that suffers unfortunately from poverty, corruption, and societal issues, she was always troubled by the neglect towards nature, animals, and human rights.
This theme is very important to Sarah, and likely to many of us, who are aware of the problems we are facing today and feel the need to voice it.
