For my experimental typography project, I chose the word Relic using old VHS tape and cassettes. I wanted to describe the word Relic, without being to literal.
I decided to create a Geometric Sans-Serif Typeface, to keep the image relatable and recognizable from a distance.I placed light dots of glue along my base and strung partially used VHS tape creating the lettering. To keep the tape recognizable to viewers, I chose to place the cassettes along the bottom.
While I was working on concepts and thumbnails, I thought of what could be described as a Relic, and remembered specific momentous that described my childhood, but were in a way extinct or obsolete now. I chose the recognizable VHS tape.
