The New York City Ballet Annual Luncheon takes place every Spring. This year’s program was called “Modern Masters.” I created several options for the design, and this was the final concept, selected by NYCB artistic directors Wendy Whelan and Jonathan Stafford. I created an architectural layout and type lockup using NYCB’s signature DIN typeface. The modular lockup mirrors the angular movements in Merce Cunningham’s jaunty “Summerspace.” The pumpkin-colored Pantone was pulled from the Summerspace backdrop and costumes designed by Robert Rauschenberg. I extended the design to a patron ticket, reply card, envelope, and more.
