‘Regionalе’ is a cultural guidebook that presents selected annual festivals and traditional Bulgarian holidays taking place in the region around our home town – Plovdiv. The edition invites the reader, whether a local or a tourist, to experience more of the unique culture and lifestyle of the region. The book shares a glimpse of the natural treasures you can experience along the way and includes a map where the little Regionale travellers can help you navigate.
The visuals were influenced by great Bulgarian artists like Stefan Kanchev and the illustrations of the soviet era. We developed custom typography for the titles and a set of icons to represent the festival types.
‘Regionale’ is part of the programme of Plovdiv – European Capital of Culture 2019.
The lively vibe of the illustrations was created by replacing the typical CMYK with the four Pantone colours.
We then played with different dot patterns to create the layering of the halftone printing and thus making it colourful.
