Beneath is a self-initiated passion project by Playdead. The short film takes influence
from dated Biology videos that were aimed to give insights into how cells and virus' work. We took this concept and played with a variety of different visuals and directions.
We kept true to how biological shapes may move and shift in reality,
but took it that step further in pushing the boundaries of the bizarre and abstract.
We explored geometrical shapes, as a juxtaposition from the organic movements and growths. We used chinese puzzle boxes as inspiration and a vehicle to drive the viewer deeper down the rabbit hole.
The film was created in the hope to illustrate what Playdead is built upon and the depths we will plunge into, for creating the best and original content we can for our clients.
